It’s hard not to notice that we’ve been missing someone special on the red carpet for the last few years—especially with the current popularity of Romcom Highlights and other Y2K-inspired trends. I know we all watched The Holiday lately, so you should know I’m talking about the one and only Cameron Diaz.
On January 15, the actor appeared in Berlin for a special screening of Back in Action, her new, aptly titled movie that’s arriving after a ten-year acting hiatus. And with it, a maybe even harder to reckon with five-year break in red carpet glam.

Wearing a lengthy wool coat, high-waisted jeans, and loafers—all black, all Gucci—Diaz tied the look together with a black ribbon in her famous blonde locks.
While we don’t know who the glam team responsible for the lip and nail shade selection consists of just yet, there is one person we can thank: Diaz’s return to acting had a lot to do with Jamie Foxx.

“I am back all thanks to Jamie,” she told People while chatting about the movie. “I had 10 years of not paying attention to anything; not accepting any advances, and then I got this script and thought that maybe it was time.”
So, when we see this monochrome style take over red carpets over the next few months—hopefully alongside Diaz—we’ll know exactly where to send our gratitude. There was a Cam-sized hole in our celeb beauty hearts, and this bold shade feels like a perfectly celebratory way to end the mourning period.
